Annabel Castro lives in Seattle WA and in Mexico City. She teaches Research Studio for digital arts at DXARTS Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media. She works both on her own and in collaborative projects. She recently received the PAEE grant from the National Foundation for Arts and Culture of Mexico 2009-10. Her artwork has been shown among other venues at the Transmediale in Berlin, Transitio MX in Mexico City, the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona, the National Museum Art Center Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Contemporary Art Museum of Santiago in Chile, the Contemporary Art and Design Museum of Costa Rica and at the International Art Biennial SIART where she received the “La Paz” award.

Castro completed a MSc in Art and Technology at Chalmers University in Sweden and a BA in Graphic Design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico where she also worked as a designer at their Institute for Aesthetic Research and taught courses at their Academic Computing Center. She is at present a PhD Candidate at DXARTS, University of Washington.
